Le Paludier de Guérande
Founded in 1975 in Batz-sur-Mer on the edge of the salt marshes in Southern Brittany by Mr. Bourdic, a salt producer from Guérande who has passed down the trade from father to son, the Bourdic company was formed through the merger of several historical companies on the Guérande peninsula, including Salinières de l'Ouest, Codisel, and St. Bourdic.
They started their commercial activities by selling coarse sea salt to businesses in Southern Brittany and Pays de la Loire. Later, they expanded their business with the introduction of the first dried and ground Guérande salt under the brand name "Le Paludier de Guérande.
Le Paludier de Guérande is a local company that operates on a human scale, with the supply of Guérande salt and Fleur de Sel de Guérande being sourced from independent salt growers carefully selected by Bourdic Establishments: In addition to their approximately twenty employees, about ninety salt workers contribute to the production of their products.
The Guérande sea salt is harvested by hand by the salt workers and then delivered to be stored in a 14th-century “salorge” in the old Cathedral, a listed monument for storing Guérande salt, before being packaged at their factory in Batz sur Mer.
Quality is of utmost importance to them, and they adhere to precise specifications and hold multiple certifications, such as Nature & Progrès (BIO certification), IGP (Protected Geographical Indication), IFS Food, AB (Organic Agriculture) for flavored products, and HACCP, to guarantee the safety of their products.
